Round Two Mock

37 Pittsburgh Pirates - Will Taylor, OF, Dutch Fork (SC)

Sleeper Alex Mooney, SS, St. Mary’s Prep (MI)

They should have the money to go big and seem to favor athletes.

38 Texas Rangers - Matt Mikulski, LHP, Fordham

Sleeper Ky Bush, LHP, Saint Mary’s

Leiter will be pricey; they could be looking for a money saver here.

39 Detroit Tigers - Jud Fabian, OF, Florida

Sleeper Alex Mooney, SS, St. Mary’s Prep (MI)

Another team with money to spend, and they tend to like SEC performers.

40 Boston Red Sox - Spencer Schwellenbach, SS/RHP, Nebraska

Sleeper Joshua Baez, OF, Dexter Southfield HS (MA)

They drafted one of the youngest players last year so they could stay local, but if they want an arm Schwellenbach stands out here in terms of draft rank.

41 Baltimore Orioles - Anthony Solometo, LHP, Bishop Eustace HS (NJ)

Sleeper Peyton Stovall, 2B, Haughton HS (LA)

The Orioles have a lot of money left, and Solometo and Chandler stand out as potential first-round talents that have money left. Stovall is the highest-rated infielder left by consensus.

42 Arizona Diamondbacks - Doug Nikhazy, LHP, Ole Miss

Sleeper Connor Norby, 2B, ECU

The D'Backs also likely might look to save some money with this pick. Nikhazy has been great all year but his age, size, and reliever profile likely make him cheaper.

43 Kansas City Royals - Bubba Chandler, RHP, North Oconee HS (GA)

Sleeper  Joshua Baez, OF, Dexter Southfield HS (MA)

The Royals surprised everyone with their top pick, one has to assume they are targeting a big name here in round two.

44 Colorado Rockies - Joshua Baez, OF, Dexter Southfield HS (MA)

Sleeper Alex Binelas, 3B, Louisville

If the Rockies like Montgomery then they should also like Baez, and they should have enough money to sign both of them.

45 Los Angeles Angels - Adrian Del Castillo, C, Miami

Sleeper Chase Burns, RHP, Beech HS (TN)

Here is another team that might have some money, and the debate here was bat or arm. Castillo might look to return to school but his upside at catcher is rather clear.

46 New York Mets - Connor Norby, 2B, ECU

Sleeper Tommy Mace, RHP, Florida

Norby could go higher than this, but he represents some value and a chance to possibly save money.

47 Washington Nationals - Tommy Mace, RHP, Florida

Ky Bush, LHP, Saint Mary’s

I expect them to go with an arm here. I think Mace might be the cheaper of the tier of arms as he is senior-aged.

48 Seattle Mariners- Ky Bush, LHP, Saint Mary’s

Sleeper Dylan Smith, RHP, Alabama

I expect them to go college, after going prep. Then again who knows what is right anymore when Dipoto is drafting prep players in round one.

49 Philadelphia Phillies - Dylan Smith, RHP, Alabama

Sleeper Christian Franklin, OF, Arkansas

After going with a prep arm I expect them to come back with a college player. Either the SEC performer or the toolsy outfielder.

50 San Francisco Giants - Ethan Wilson, OF, South Alabama

Sleeper Wes Kath, 3B, Desert Mountain HS

Wilson had some first-round chatter even with a disappointing year. Kath makes sense if they go prep.

51 Milwaukee Brewers - Robert Gasser, LHP, Houston

Sleeper Andrew Abbott, LHP, Virginia

They added two left-handed bats, what about adding a left-handed arm now.

52 Miami Marlins - Chayce McDermott, RHP, Ball State

Sleeper Bryce Miller, RHP, TAMU

Ball State’s newest arm comes from an athletic family and saw his stuff jump this year. He turns 23 in August and should be a cheaper sign due to age.

54 Cincinnati Reds - James Wood, OF, IMG Academy (FL)

Sleeper Jaden Hill, RHP, LSU

They should have some extra money and have been tied to Wood. They also make a lot of sense for Hill.

55. New York Yankees -  Jaden Hill, RHP, LSU

Sleeper James Triantos, SS, James Madison HS

The Yankees should have some extra money to spend and could target one of the top prep players left on the board.

56. Chicago Cubs -  Peyton Stovall, 2B, Haughton HS (LA) JS (AZ)

Sleeper Wes Kath, 3B, Desert Mountain

Both of these prep players were viewed as potential first-rounders and neither are high-risk types.

57. Chicago White Sox - Wes Kath, 3B, Desert Mountain

Sleeper Tyler Whitaker, OF, Bishop Gorman

The value here is with prep bats, so it makes sense for the White Sox to double down with either the hit tool of Kath or the power of Whitaker.

58 Cleveland Indians - Edwin Arroyo, SS, Central Pointe Christian (FL)

Sleeper James Triantos, SS, James Madison HS

Arroyo is too good a fit between his hit tool, age, and defensive potential up the middle. Triantos is another potential up the middle bat that fits the mold.

59 Atlanta Braves Izaac Pacheco, 3B, Friendswood HS (TX)

Sleeper Tyler Whitaker, OF, Bishop Gorman

Value is too high in terms of prep hitters to look elsewhere.

60 Oakland Athletics Christian Franklin, OF, Arkansas

Sleeper Peyton Wilson, 2B, Alabama

A pair of up-the-middle college athletes who fit the Athletics approach.

61 Minnesota Twins - Tyler Whitaker, OF, Bishop Gorman

Sleeper Alex Binelas, 3B, Louisville

Twins go for power and these are the best ones left in the college and prep ranks.

62 San Diego Padres Chase Burns, RHP, Beech HS (TN)

Sleeper Ben Kudrna, RHP, Blue Valley Southwest HS (KS)

They should have the money to sign one of the top prep arms left which would be considered one of these pitchers in most places.

63 Tampa Bay Rays -  Ben Kudrna, RHP, Blue Valley Southwest HS (KS)

Sleeper Brody Brecht, RHP, Ankeny

If Brecht was signable I think he would go a lot higher. Instead, Kudrna stands out as the high ceiling pitcher after grabbing a pair of infielders earlier.

64 Pittsburgh Pirates - James Triantos, SS, James Madison HS

Sleeper Alex Mooney, SS, St. Mary’s Prep (MI)

They have so many picks, they might as well grab one of the better shortstops left here.

65 Baltimore Orioles - Alex Mooney, SS, St. Mary’s Prep (MI)

Sleeper Peyton Wilson, 2B, Alabama

Just looking at the up-the-middle talent available these two stood out here.

66 Kansas City Royals - Peyton Wilson, 2B, Alabama

Sleeper Joe Rock, LHP, Ohio

Wilson is the safe up the middle performer, and Rock the big upside lefty.

67 Arizona Diamondbacks - Andrew Abbott, LHP, Virginia

Sleeper Alex Binelas, 3B, Louisville

Abbott is the last of his tier of arms, while he is smaller he took a big step this year.

68 Colorado Rockies -  Alex Binelas, 3B, Louisville

Sleeper Cody Morissette, SS, Boston College

More power bats for the Rockies.

69 Cleveland Indians Aaron Zavala, OF, Oregon

Sleeper Joe Rock, LHP, Ohio

Both players are young for their grade and performed well this year. Rock the up-and-coming lefty and Zavala an On-base machine with a low strikeout rate.

70 Saint Louis Cardinals Joe Rock, LHP, Ohio

Sleeper Max Ferguson, 2B, Tennessee

I thought both of these players could make sense to the Indians, and the Cardinals have been drafting a lot of players I line up with the Indians the last two years.

71 San Diego Padres Malakhi Knight, OF, Marysville-Getchell (WA)

Sleeper Daylen Lile, OF, Trinity HS (KY)

A pair of outfielders Knight is the better athlete and Lile the better hitter, I could see the Padres favoring both of them.
